. 10 DAY / 9 NIGHT: KENYA FAMILY ADVENTURE SAFARI - 1 (PWS)

DAY 1              Kiangazi House, Lake Naivasha

On arrival in Nairobi you will be met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by To Africa Tours and Safaris representative and driven into the Rift Valley to Kiangazi House. Kiangazi is a delightful country house that is located in the 3,000-acre Oserian Game Corridor and overlooks Oloidien Bay and part of Lake Naivasha. Here one feels the awe-inspiring Rift Valley at first hand. The house has five luxurious en-suite bedrooms and a swimming pool and tennis court. The dining verandah looks over a waterhole where one can watch the daily rituals of the wildlife.

Day 2               Kiangazi House

Activities at Kiangazi House are game drives in the corridor and along the lake shore; boat trips on Lake Naivasha, fishing for Bass, or exploring the saline shore front on Olodien Bay to witness hundreds of flamingos and cormorants with pods of hippo in the Lake. Day trips can be arranged as an optional extra to Lake Nakuru to see the superb birdlife and undertake game viewing with almost guaranteed sightings of rhino.

Day 3               Kichwa Tembo, Maasai Mara

Departing from Naivasha after lunch on the scheduled SafariLink flight to the Maasai Mara, you will be met at the Kichwa Tembo airstrip and transferred to your camp. There the savanna folds out in front of you and big game can be seen from the camp boundaries itself. The camp is safe for children to explore within the fenced area.

Day 4               Kichwa Tembo

Exploring this stunning wildlife area, game drives will be taken early morning and late afternoon or evening in search of the Mara’s famous Lion prides, Elephants and large antelope herds.

Day 5               Kichwa Tembo

Being not far from the river it may be possible to see the huge migratory herds of wildebeest on their ritual travels. Sometimes precarious river crossings with all their attendant predators may be witnessed. In the calm, hot afternoons children may wish to swim in the delightful, small swimming pool, before searching for animals on the afternoon drive.

Day 6               Kilalinda, Tsavo

Depart from the Mara on the morning’s scheduled SafariLink flight to Wilson Airport where you will be met by a vehicle for your drive to Kilalinda Lodge in Tsavo. The drive time to the lodge is approximately 3 hours. Kilalinda is a place of constant little surprises, of subtle, stirring revelations. Located on the edge of Tsavo East in a private conservancy, in the welcoming shadow of the Yatta Plateau, the lodge sits on a sandy promontory overlooking the Athi River, a little drop of luxury in the harsh wilds of Tsavo.  On a clear day, Kilimanjaro can be seen to the south.

Day 7               Kilalinda

The six well spaced out cottages have olive wood pillars, giant four poster beds; cushion laden sofas and local handmade tiles in the bathrooms, shingled roofs, and private verandas built so as to make maximum use of the cool breeze that blows up and down the river during the different seasons.  The Twiga suite even has its own bar and plunge pool. The cottages are located along the river giving each room its own view and sandy beach with a hammock for whiling away the afternoon. The mornings can be spent taking a game drive followed by a bush breakfast and in the evening, for the romantics, there are the Star Baths!

Day 8               Kilalinda

Bush Drives in the 8000-acre sanctuary are conducted in specially modified, open top Land Rovers and one can find Elephant, Buffalo, Zebra, Gerenuk, and recently Wild Dog has been seen on several occasions in the sanctuary. Night game drives can be taken to find Bush Babies, White-tailed Mongoose and other nocturnal animals. At the lodge itself you will find Banded Mongoose & Warthog in the gardens, and whilst having dinner the Genet Cats & Porcupines will come to visit. In addition, drives into the Tsavo East National Park can also be arranged as an optional extra.

Day 9             Nairobi,  Departure
