12 Days/ 11 Nights: South Africa, Zambia & Botwana

Southern Africa is blessed with abundant of graces – a land teaming with wildlife – vast and remote and pristine. This safari takes you through the gorgeous Cape Winelands and into exclusive private game reserves for an out of this world safari experience. Spend four nights in Cape Town, one of the most cosmopolitan and historical cities in South Africa. Continue your adventure to Livingstone, in Zambia to witness one of the nature’s creations – “Victoria Falls”. Finally, end your safari at Chobe National Park famous for its herds of elephants.

Day 1: Arrive Cape Town
Arrive Cape Town International Airport. On arrival in Cape Town you will be met by a To Africa Tours and Safaris representative and transferred to the hotel. Accommodation: Cullinan Hotel

Day 2: Cape Town
After breakfast, travel along the Atlantic coastline via the scenic drives of Oudekraal to the fishing village of Hout Bay. Crossing over the mountain via Chapman’s Peak Drive, travel to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and take the funicular to the main viewing site at Cape Point (optional). Then leave the reserve and continue along the False Bay Coastline to lunch (cost not included) and then visit the Penguin colony at Boulders beach. Finally, visit the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before returning to the hotel. (Breakfast)

Day 3: Cape Town
Today you explore the famous winelands of Western Cape. Depart from your hotel and travel to the scenic beauty of the Paarl wine region. Continue along the Berg River Valley to the picturesque town of Franschhoek and have the opportunity of walking through the quaint village. In the afternoon, call in at the historic University town of Stellenbosch and also see the surrounding wine areas. During the course of the day there will be ample opportunity to taste some of the magnificent wines produced in this region and a suitable stop will also be made for you to enjoy a relaxing lunch (own cost). Late afternoon return to Cape Town. (Breakfast)

Day 4: Cape Town
After breakfast, tour of the “Mother City”. Begin the excursion with the ascent of Table Mountain by cable car (the ticket for the cable car ticket is not included as the ascent is subject to the weather being suitable). After this visit the city center, see the Company Gardens the Castle of Good Hope and the Malay quarter. Travel past the residential areas of the Atlantic sea board. Afternoon at leisure. (Breakfast)

Day 5: Kapama Private Game Reserve
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Hoedspruit Airport. On arrival, transfer by road to the game lodge situated on the Kapama Private Game Reserve. Afternoon game drive in open safari vehicles - the reserve supports great numbers and varieties of amphibians, reptiles, birds and 147 mammal species including the Big 5 ( Elephants, Rhinos, Lions, Hippos and Leopards). (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner). Accommodation: Kapama River Lodge - Kapama Private Game Reserve occupies a vast area between the northern Drakensberg Mountains and the Greater Kruger National Park. It is the largest game reserve in the region, and is perfectly situated to receive guests flying into Eastgate Airport (Hoedspruit). This airport is just minutes from the reserve. Kapama Game Reserve is in Limpopo Province, an area renowned for superb safari vacations. Kapama's 13000 hectares has all the big game of Africa with 42 mammal species and approximately 350 bird species. This equates to huge natural diversity and includes the famed 'Big 5' - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Game drives are conducted through the rolling savannah grasslands and riverine forests that make up this appealing African reserve. The northern Drakensberg mountain range provides a majestic backdrop to this private game reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park region.

Kapama River Lodge is situated within Kapama Game Reserve, and presents the perfect blend between luxurious safari accommodation and a generous bed capacity of 64 bedrooms. Although large, it is so stylish and roomy and beautifully positioned along a dry riverbed, that guests fall in love with it. Each spacious room at Kapama River Lodge features a full en-suite bathroom and terrace with uninterrupted views into the leafy-green Big 5 (rhino, elephant, hippo, lion and leopard) game reserve. The central guest entertainment areas include a large rim-flow swimming pool with sun umbrellas and recliners for lazy afternoons. The long L-shaped relaxation lounge and bar under a double-volume thatch, curves around the pool and on either side is a huge double-sided fireplace creating a wondrous open-plan yet cozy atmosphere. The Rhino Boma dining area with tables arranged under a low thatch in a horseshoe curve has a central open space where a roaring outdoor fire gives a glow to evening meals. Buffet-style meals introduce African flavors’ with Pan African dishes using fresh local ingredients and specialist dishes featuring venison like kudu and impala.

Day 6: Kapama Private Game Reserve
Morning and afternoon game drives with time in between to relax or go on a walking safari accompanied by a ranger. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner). Accommodation: Kapama River Lodge

Day 7: Johannesburg
After the morning game drive (depending on you flight time) and breakfast, there is time to freshen up before transferring to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival, transfer to the hotel situated in the exclusive suburb of Sandton. The rest of the day is at leisure. (Breakfast). Accommodation: The Sandton Holiday Inn

Day 8: Chobe Game Reserve, Botswana
Early morning breakfast and transfer to Johannesburg International Airport for your flight to Livingstone. On arrival, you will be met by a To Africa Tours and Safaris representative and transferred by road and ferry across the border into Botswana. Upon arrival you will be met by Chobe Marina Lodge driver and you will be transfered to the lodge. Afternoon game cruise or drive into the Chobe National Park - famous for its large elephant and buffalo herds. Iin addition to the larger game species and a variety of predators, there are 18 species of antelope. Hippo, crocodile and an abundance of birdlife decorate the river and game viewing by boat is a 'game drive' with a difference. Return to the lodge for dinner. (Breakfast,Dinner). Accommodation: Chobe Marina Lodge

Day 9: Chobe Game Reserve, Botswana
Early morning and afternoon game activities with time in between to relax. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner). Accommodation: Chobe Marina Lodge

Day 10: Victoria Falls, Zambia
After breakfast, transfer to Livingstone and check into the hotel situated within walking distance of the falls. In the evening, transfer to the jetty for the sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. The cruise is along the river boundary of the Mosi Oa Tunya National Park, around Siloka Island and back to The Waterfront jetty. The total cruise time is approximately 2.5 hours. From the boat, sightings of elephant, giraffe and even rhino coming down to the river to drink are common. There are also abundant, hippos, crocodiles and birdlife. Aboard the boat there is complimentary bar and freshly baked snacks are served. An experienced guide accompanies cruise and has good knowledge on the wildlife and local history of the area. The rest of the evening is at leisure. (Breakfast). Accommodation: Zambezi Sun Hotel

Day 11: Victoria Falls, Zambia
After breakfast, meet your guide at the activity center for your guided tour of Victoria Falls, one of seven natural wonders of the world. This walking tour takes you through the magnificent rainforest where you are able to view the falls. Remainder of the day at leisure – return to the falls on your own (guests of the hotel have unlimited access), take an optional tour into the town or to a local village or relax at the hotel. There are a number of optional excursions available to fill your day: try a helicopter flight over the falls (flight of the angels), whitewater river rafting, game viewing on land or by boat, or a cultural visit to Chief Mukuni's village. (Breakfast). Accommodation: Zambezi Sun Hotel

Day 12: Depart Livingstone
Mid-morning transfer to Linvingstone Airport for your flight to Johannesburg and take your gflight home or your selected extension. (B)
